Ghanaian international Sampson Opoku Junior says he hopes to get the opportunity to help the Black Stars with his deadball specialties in the near future.

The left-back currently plays his football with Neftchi FC in Kyrgyzstan where he is highly-rated.

Though he has the opportunity of representing the Russian national team at the senior level, Sampson Opoku Junior says he will love to play for Ghana instead.

“I have it in me from my childhood times back in Ghana, I don’t miss free kicks and penalties because I practice them a lot”, the Techiman-born defender said in an interview with Classic FM sports.

The 20-year-old believes he will be an asset for the Black Stars with his ability to score from a free-kick and deliver a precise assist from a corner or a free-kick position.

“I think Ghana is lacking this. So with this quality plus my versatility as a defender, I will proudly play my heart out when I get the call up” he added.

Sampson Opoku Junior formerly played for MFZ Academy, Spartak Moscow junior as well as Van FC in Armenia. He is focused on upping his game when the football season returns in Kyrgyzstan after the Covid-19 break.
