Defender Dennis Appiah has been named in Sofascore's team of the week after his outstanding performance for Saint Etienne in match week 19.

Appiah helped his club Saint Etienne beat Chamois 1-0 on Monday 16th January at the Stade René Gaillard. He played full throttle in the encounter as a right back.

Gaëtan Charbonnier scored in the 86th minute to bring another three points back to the Alps. After a 1-0 victory at home to Stade Laval last Tuesday, this result represented two consecutive wins in the league for Saint Etienne.

In the space of just over a week, their league position no longer looks so precarious.

The win saw the club leapfrog their opponents Niort to take 18th place in the league, albeit just one point ahead.

Appiah made two clearances, three tackles, one interception, won all his ground duels, created one key chance, completed all his crosses and had 64 touches against Chamois.

Dennis Appiah joined Saint Etienne in the ongoing winter transfer window from Ligue 1 side Nantes.
