Liberian President George Oppong Weah has mourned former Ghanaian footballer Christian Atsu, who tragically lost his life in a devastating earthquake in Turkey that happened on February 6th.

Weah, himself a former professional footballer, sent a delegation led by Pastor Kwame Ayew to convey his condolences and donate $10,000 to Atsu's family.

The delegation met with the Twasam family, expressing Weah's deep sympathy for their loss.

Atsu, aged just 31, was among the tens of thousands of people who lost their lives in the 7.8-magnitude earthquake that shook Turkey and Syria, leaving communities devastated and grieving.

Christian Atsu's remains were brought to Ghana on Sunday via a cargo plane. His one week observation has been set for March 4, 2023.
