Germany international midfielder Kerem Demirbay believes he is making a good move by agreeing to join Bayer Leverkusen from Bundesliga rivals Hoffenheim.

The 25-year-old has agreed a five-year contract to join Leverkusen in the summer, having spent the last three campaigns with Die Kraichgauer, helping them to qualify to play in the Champions League group stage this season.

Demirbay told the official Bundesliga website: "This is the next chapter after three great years at Hoffenheim.

"Leverkusen play really attractive attacking football. Their style suits mine and I'm really looking forward to becoming a part of this team."

Demirbay has played twice for Germany to date, scoring in a 3-1 Confederations Cup win over Cameroon in June 2017.

Leverkusen had earlier been boosted by Julian Brandt playing down talk of a summer transfer, with the 23-year-old midfielder having been linked with interest from several Premier League clubs.

Responding to that speculation, Brandt told the official Bundesliga website: "It's going really well right now, I'm enjoying myself.

"I've got a contract with Bayer until 2021, so right now all is well. As things stand, I'm staying put."

Brandt and Die Werkself are currently battling to qualify for the Champions League, lying just outside the Bundesliga top four with two games to play.

Leverkusen are 4/6 to finish in the top four, with Eintracht Frankfurt 3/1 and Hoffenheim 12/1.
