The pre-match head-to-head record favored Rodez, with two wins to Saint-Etienne's none, and two draws.

Appiah was introduced in the 77th minute, replacing Yvann Maçon at the Stade Geoffroy-Guichard. The home side had been dominant, with more possession and shots on goal. Their persistence paid off in the 64th minute when Irvin Cardona headed home a superb cross from Dylan Chambost.

As the game entered its final stages, Saint-Etienne looked to put the result beyond doubt. In the 90th minute, Nathanaël Mbuku embarked on a solo run, capping it off with a cool finish. Appiah was credited with the assist, having played a key part in the build-up.

The 2-0 victory was a fitting end to a strong performance from Saint-Etienne. Appiah's contribution was particularly noteworthy, with the defender making 33 appearances and providing two assists in Ligue 2 this season.
