Di Francesco: Roma were very naive against AC Milan

After AC Milan snatched all three points from Roma in the 95th minute, Giallorossi coach Eusebio Di Francesco was less than impressed with the way his side took to the game.

A last minute Patrick Cutrone goal condemned Roma to another disappointing result, after Federico Fazio had equalised following Franck Kessie’s opener.

“I don’t think that the match was determined only in the final minute,” Di Francesco told the press, “because we also had a chance from Dzeko.

“We were very naive on the goal we conceded, the line was well placed, but a midfielder had moved behind it.

“In the first half we were under the cosh and the team didn’t express themselves as they can do.”

“I expected Milan to play the way they did, I knew how they were going to take on the game.

“I didn’t expect my team to play like they did, I didn’t get the answers I wanted. In the early part of the season we are a little slow at getting started.

“It could have been a draw, Milan did more in regards to creating chances, especially in the first half.

“We improved a lot in the second half. Last year that didn’t happen, this year our opponents managed to get shots on goal too often.”

New signing Javier Pastore was disappointing, and was replaced just after the hour by Bryan Cristante.

“Pastore must improve on a physical level and also on consistency,” Di Francesco went on.

“Today he wasn’t brilliant, playing in the role he did, doesn’t allow him to express himself a lot.”
