Division One League Super Cup: Gold Stars and Accra Lions seeded ahead of draw

The draw for the newly introduced Division One League Super Cup will be held at the Nduom Sports complex on Thursday, August 26, 2021 and will see all eight participating teams divided into two groups of four teams.

The eight qualified teams are allocated to two pots of four teams each. Bibiani Gold Stars (Zone Two Winners) and Accra Lions FC (Zone Three Winners) have been seeded ahead of the draw on Thursday.

The draw of ballots for the two slots was done during a meeting with the participating clubs on Tuesday, at the GFA Board room in Accra – where the three Zonal champions were put in Pot 1, 2, and 3. Accra Lions picked Pot 2 while Bibiani Gold Stars picked Pot 1 with Zone One Winners Real Tamale United dropping out of the placement.

As a result, the remaining six teams (Real Tamale United, Bofoakwa Tano, Berekum Arsenal, Skyy FC, Samartex FC, Tema Youth) will be placed under the two teams during the draw on Thursday.

The Division One League Super Cup is a tournament which will serve as a preparatory ground for the participating clubs ahead of 2021/22 season will commence Thursday, September 23, and end on Saturday, October 2, 2021. The Mini tournament aims to give additional incentive to clubs and players ahead of the new season.
