Dozens of Ghanaian Referees Fail Integrity Test

Dozens of Ghanaian referees who sat for the 2019 Cooper Test failed as few came clean to amass their reward of FIFA badges at the Shekinah Glory Hotel (Sogakope) in the Volta region on Saturday.

Six Male referees, Six assistant referees, and four Female referees together with four assistant referees respectively got their long sort after FIFA badges in the five-day event, organized by the Ghana Football Association (GFA) in Collaboration with the Confederation of Africa Football (CAF) and FIFA.

20 referees qualified for the badges out of 150 referees.

The event saw three FIFA instructors, Boubakar Hannachi (Tunisia), An Yan Lim Kee Chong (Mauritius) and Onias Felix Tangawarima (Zimbabwe) as resource persons.

150 Ghanaian referees took part in the Course at the West Africa Football Academy (WAFA) Complex at Sogakope but only 20 were given the FIFA badges.

The referees were taken through a fitness test a lecture on integrity (Match manipulation) as well as the laws of the game on the first day.
