Dr Kwaku Frimpong blames referee Jacob Aduntera for Ashantigold's defeat to Medeama

Ashanti Gold president, Dr. Kwaku Frimpong, has accused referee Jacob Aduntera for causing their defeat against Medeama SC in their week 26 encounter at the Akoon Park at Tarkwa on May 22.

Agyemang scored a last-gasp penalty to hand Medeama a 1-0 win over Ashgold.

Owusu Banahene handled the ball in the 18-yard box after a scramble. Referee Jacob Aduntera had no hesitation in awarding the spot kick.

Describing Aduntera's performance as disgraceful, Dr Frimpong said such attitude was likely to undermine the competitiveness of the Ghana Premier League.

“I have already instructed my men to protest against the behaviour of the referee.  We are ready to face him at the GFA’s Disciplinary Committee to prove our case because such a behaviour is a disgrace to the noble profession and something should be done to check it before it explodes to undermine the attraction of our league,” Dr Frimpong lamented in an interview with the Graphic Sports.

"Because of the passion of football, some businessmen have made huge investment in the game as their contribution to make it more attractive to entice sponsorship. It is for this reason that there should be fairness in the league, especially at a time the league is generating keen interest at the local and international levels.

"This will ensure that the best team wins the league to represent Ghana in the continental competition, while those that performed poorly would be relegated to the lower division."
