CAF medical officer, Dr. Prince Pambo is against the resumption of Ghana leagues and describes calls for resumption 'irresponsible'.
The Ghana Football Association brought a halt to all local leagues due to the outbreak of the coronavirus and will decide on the future of the competition on June 30.
The Bundesliga has resumed its footballing activities and La Liga are preparing to do same but Dr. Pambo has slammed the pressure coming from stakeholders to follow their lead.
“It is more than irresponsible for anybody to force to start it (football in Ghana) when there isn’t 100% safety,” he told Adom FM.
“It is only the Ghana Health Service who can determine when certain activities like churches and others can resume before we even think about restarting our game.”
“That is why some of us suggested that we cancel everything and prepare for a fresh start at a later date when situations normalize.”
“Some club administrators are pushing for football to come back but it will not be proper to risk human lives when 100% safety cannot be guaranteed.”
