Dreams FC coach CK Akunnor applauds players despite their midweek defeat to WAFA

Dreams FC coach Charles Akonnor says his side were tactically disciplined despite been forced to make an early change.

Manager Akonnor was forced to make a substitution as early as the fourteenth minute of the game when the team was down 1-0 following an injury to goalkeeper Philemon McCarthy. The experienced shot stopper landed awkwardly on his back trying to clear a ball in the penalty area and had to be replaced by Mozart Adjetey.

WAFA scored the only goal of the match through Richmond Aryee’s shot which deflected off a defender and beat McCarthy in post in the 6th minute of the game.

Akonnor believes his charges carried out his instructions very well, asserting that the change in personnel did not affect his game plan.

“It wasn’t a good sign because it was very important that he (McCarthy) played till the end of the game and we were forced to make a change which was not good.” Charles Akonnor told dreamsfc.com

“However, I think the boys coped very well and played very well in that area.

“We were well organized, tactically, we didn’t allow the opponent to play and so we coped very well with the situation.”

Dreams FC sit sixth on the league log 35 points after 25 games and will face fellow debutants Techiman City at the Theatre of Dreams, Dawu on match day 26 after undeservingly losing in the reverse encounter.
