Dreams FC Manager Akonnor has lauded the performance of his side against Aduana Stars.

The ‘Still Believe’ lads thumped Aduana Stars 2-0 in an epic Ghana Premier League Week 20 encounter at the Theatre of Dreams, Dawu on Wednesday courtesy a brace from striker Michael Sarpong after losing heavily in the first leg.

Dreams FC prior to Wednesday’s encounter pipped Liberty Professionals at the Carl Reindorf Park in Dansoman and Manager Akonnor could not hide his praise for the team as they improved on their performance against Liberty in the win over Aduana stars.

“Once again, a very good work and very discipline- the things we wanted to do we did it- we got our goals at the right time when we needed it most- I must say the boys were fantastic, wonderful and disciplined.”

“We’ve seen a lot of qualities in our game especially our back with Ocran; Abeiku, McCarthy and others, I mean it’s been very solid and we’ve improved on our discipline- I’ve seen a lot positive in it and am happy with how we’ve gone so far.” Charles Akonnor said after the match.

Akonnor further said that he’s happy with the win as the 3 points mattered than the revenge. The ‘Ogya’ boys drubbed Dreams FC 4-0 in the first leg- the heaviest defeat so far in Akonnor’s coaching career.

“We wanted to win, that is what matters.” Manager Akonnor said.

“We could win 1-0; 2-0, 3-0 or maybe 5-0 but we needed the 3 points and that’s what we got.”

“I’m very happy because it was a very good work from the defence, midfield and to attack- [Eric] Gawu as usual fantastic, Aaron [Amoah] was alive- that part of our game was good and I’m very happy.”

“I wouldn’t call it revenge, am happy that we’ve won so it’s okay.” He ended.

The former Ghana international made just two changes in the team that started against Liberty with younger Kingsley Yeboah and Alhassan kalusha both earning their first start of the season. Akonnor, however, was impressed in their output against Aduana Stars.

“They’ve shown a lot of qualities in them, they were looking for the opportunity and we could afford bringing them on.”

“I will understand with [Alhassan] Kalusha who’s from a long term injury and is back- he did well but we know he can improve and so they all did well, we can only be proud of them.” He said about Kalusha Alhassan who returned from a long-term injury lay-off.
