Football within the COVID-19 era has been described by Zambia coach, Milutin Sredojevic as the sweet honey in the bitterness of life, as the sports discipline remains a driving force for unity, consolation, and comfort, he told outlet kick442.com

Sporting competitions across the globe were paralysed with some events canceled or rescheduled due to the pandemic, which has claimed the lives of over 500,000 people across the globe.

On the continent, for instance, the 2019 African Nations Championship and the 2021 Nations Cup were postponed while the Women’s AFCON was called off.

Various leagues on the continent were forced to reschedule their calendar. Others ended their domestic championships with no champions and continental representatives proclaimed.

However, there’s been much improvement as some of the domestic leagues have drawn plans of restarting despite the health crises. Some European League’s set the ball by resuming in May.

Speaking to outlet Kick442.com he mentioned how saddened he was about the tragedy but has remained optimistic the is light at the end of the tunnel.

“Under the circumstances were humanity is facing huge challenges, it is a test of character for all of us,” he said.

“But under normal circumstances were many people are sick, many people have lost their lives, many people are sick, many people are losing their jobs, and the economic situation is not perfect, that we find the way and be messengers of good news, providing football sweet honey in bitterness of life in the Coronavirus era” he concluded.
