In the next few days, it is unlikely for matches to be played at the Accra Sports Stadium in the evening.

This is because the Stadium has been taken off the national grid due to unpaid electricity bills.

The Accra Sports Stadium has been affected by the ongoing exercise of the National Task Force of the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) as they work to disconnect entities refusing to pay up bills.

Speaking to Joy Spots in an interview, the team leader of the Task Force Nene Shadrack Mase said the power was cut from the stadium due to a debt of GHS508,000.00.

He said electricity would only be restored if the custodians of the facility pays 75% of the amount owed.

“What they have to do to be restored is pay one-fourth or 75% of the total debt and the rest of the debt will be scheduled for them. If there is a defaultment in payment, they will be cut off again,” Nene Shadrack Mase said.

He continued, “What they have to do to be restored is pay one-fourth or 75% of the total debt and the rest of the debt will be scheduled for them. If there is a defaultment in payment, they will be cut off again.”
