Eddie Nketiah not returning to Arsenal as being reported – Leeds United Chief

Chief Executive Officer (CEO) for Leeds United, Angus Kinnear has rubbished reports suggesting that Eddie Nketia’s loan spell at the English Championship side will be cut short.

The English-born Ghanaian striker joined the side on a season-long loan to ensure he gets regular playing time as he continues his development.

After keeping his cool and establishing himself as one of the key players for Marcelo Bielsa’s side, growing reports in England indicates that Arsenal is looking to call him back earlier than expected following the injury of French forward Alexander Lacazette.

Speaking on the matter on Talking Shutt - a Leeds United fan podcast, Angus Kinnear has shared that the player will remain at the club as per the contract they have with the Gunners when they entrusted the youngster with them in the summer transfer window.

“He's very expensive for a loan, but he's held in huge regard by Arsenal.

"When we spoke to Arsenal about him we asked them, 'is this a player you want us to develop so you can sell him?'. They said no, 'he's a player we want you to develop so he can come back and play first-team football for Arsenal'.

“That's where Marcelo and his coaching staff give us a competitive advantage versus some of the clubs he could have joined. I don't think there are a safer pair of hands to entrust him to than Marcelo”, he said.

Eddie Nketia has so far bagged 4 goals in the ongoing season and has added depth to the attacking force of Leeds United who is targeting promotion to the English Premier League at the end of the season.
