English born Ghanaian striker, Eddie Nketiah has opened up on constantly starting matches from the bench for his Leeds United side while noting that he is unhappy.
The youngster joined the Championship side in the summer transfer window from English Premier League club Arsenal. Though he has excelled in the limited minutes he has enjoyed, he has expressed frustration to playing second fiddle to Patrick Bamford at the club.
Following his hat-trick for England u-21 in their 5-1 win against Austria on Tuesday in the qualifiers to the European u-21 championship, Eddie Nketia says he is good enough to start and should not be playing substitute roles.
“I am really just trying to do as much as I can”.
“Obviously, I will never be happy with being on the bench. I want to play. I pride myself on being in the team. I think I am good enough to be in the team”, the forward said in an interview with SkySports.
He added, “All I can do is put in the performances that I do. When I come on [to] try and contribute and I think with the chances I have had, I have done really well.
“In the two games I have [started], I have scored. I always try and help the team when I come on”.
He returns to Leeds United this weekend from the international break in red-hot form and will be hoping his manager finally hands him starting roles.
