Elisha Owusu blames KAA Gent’s defeat in UCL playoff against Dynamo Kyiv to bad start

Midfielder Elisha Owusu has bemoaned his KAA Gent outfit’s slow start to the crucial game against Dynamo Kyiv in the Uefa Champions League playoff on Wednesday night.

The 22-year old was in action for the Belgian club yesterday when they hosted their opponent in the first leg of the final stage of the UCL playoffs to the Group stage of the next edition of the competition.

Speaking in a post-match interview after suffering a 2-1 defeat to Dynamo Kyiv, Elisha Owusu lamented over how the team started badly.

“It was not a match with a happy ending for the Buffalos an honest Elisha Owusu said after the match.

“The plan was not to concede a goal and after ten minutes that plan was thrown away as we allowed Kyiv to score far too easily”, the midfielder said

He added, “We started badly but fought our way back into the match thanks to Tim Kleindienst’s first goal from Gent and after the break, we believed in it, but then we took our courage by going one-man down”, he remarked.

“Bezus received two yellow cards within a few minutes and that obviously did not help the team forward”.

Trailing 2-1 from the first leg, Elisha Owusu and his Gent teammates will hope to overturn the scoreline in the second leg.
