England coach Gareth Southgate has eulogized midfielder Kobbie Mainoo after impressing in friendlies against Brazil and Belgium.

The England-born Ghanaian midfielder made substitute appearance on his debut in the 1-0 defeat to Brazil last Saturday.

Mainoo impressed Southgate, leading to his first start against Belgium on Tuesday in the 2-2 draw at Wembley.

The 18-year-old, who has been making significant strides at Manchester United delivered an outstanding performance.

His standout performance earned him the Man of the Match prize at the end of the game.

However, Southgate has showered praise on the England-born Ghanaian midfielder, saying he is a player the Three Lions haven’t got in a while.

“We saw there was that fearlessness to come in and the technical ability to receive, when pressed, to find a pass to manipulate the ball in tight areas. It gives us a profile of player we haven't got. That's hugely exciting” he said.

Mainoo will be hoping to cement a place in the England national team after impressive debut in the international friendlies.
