Ernest Asante’s Omonia Nicosia to face Olympiakos Piraeus in UCL playoff round

Ghana forward Ernest Asante and his Omonia Nicosia outfit has set up a date with Greek giants Olympiakos Piraeus in the final play-off round of the Uefa Champions League qualification after defeating Serbian champions Red Star Belgrade in the third qualifying round today.

The Cypriot top-flight club has had a good spell in the qualification series to the next edition of the Uefa Champions League so far.

At the end of the third qualifying round, the team has managed to survive against all odds after defeating Red Star Belgrade 4-2 on penalties at the Neo GSP Stadium.

On the matchday, Ghana's Ernest Asante featured and scored in the penalty shootout to help his team carry the day. Now heading to the final round of the Uefa Champions League qualification, Omonia Nicosia will face off with Olympiakos Piraeus.

The team has a history in the European club competition and Omonia Nicosia will need to up their game to have a chance of achieving history at the end of what will be a two-legged encounter.
