Tunisian giants Esperance de Tunis has waved $45,000 from the $240,000 fine imposed on Asante Kotoko by FIFA.

This has been confirmed by the Public Relations Officer of the club Kennedy Boakye-Ansah. According to him, it was made possible through the club’s intermediary Ashford Tetteh-Oku.

The $45,000 was added to Kotoko’s fine as fee of interest of 5% per anum for the club’s failure to pay the $180,000 transfer fee for the illegal signing of striker Emmanuel Clottey.

Giving insight on the amicable settlement between Kotoko and Esperance, Kennedy Boakye Ansah told Happy FM, “FIFA brought a final decision that If we don’t make payment by May 17 there will be stricter sanctions. On the 20 April, Kotoko sent an amount of $20,000 to Esperance and another $15,000 was sent to FIFA.

“The case is between Kotoko and Esperance. A fine of $45,000 was also imposed on FIFA. Through Ashford Tetteh Oku we spoke to Esperance and they have written it off”.

The Kotoko PRO added, “They (Esperance) were also owing us in the Kwame Bonsu transfer deal of $150,000 so we use it to offset the $180,000. Then we sent $30,000 to them. We have settled the case and communicated to FIFA”.
