The Dutch Eredivisie club yesterday played as a guest to the French Ligue 1 club in the first of a two-legged tie in the Round of 32 of the European inter-club competition.

Although he started from the bench as a substitute, Brian Brobbey was introduced in the 73rd minute at a point in the game where Lille had taken the lead through a strike from Timothy Weah.

Impressing with his attacking play, the highly-rated teenager went on to score with a smart finish in the 89th minute to seal a win for Ajax after a penalty kick converted by Dusan Tadic had drawn level for the away team earlier.
