Everton midfielder Idrissa Gueye is hopeful they'll take seriously the Europa League next season.

Gueye is keen to see Everton tackle the Europa League - even as they try to break the monopoly on the top four.

He told the Liverpool Echo: “I think that whether or not the club decides to take the Europa League serious, I'm just a player and I want to play as many games as I can.

“The key for us is to win as many games as possible, whether it's at Europe or at home.

“I agree that some clubs have in the past prioritised the league over Europa League, but we have a club president, a coach and backroom staff to decide how best to manage our resources, and decide whether to rotate the squad and make certain changes for games.

“Whatever the competition, I'm happy to respect the orders of manager and coaching staff.

“We just try to win every game, whether it's Europe or at home."
