Ex-AshantiGold SC striker Yaw Annor opens up on nationality switch to Togo

Former AshantiGold SC attacker, Yaw Annor has revealed his decision to ditch Ghana for Togo's senior national team.

The young forward last month confirmed his decision to play for the West African country over the lack of opportunities in Ghana.

Having emerged as the top goalscorer of the 2021/22 Ghana Premier League, Annor could not earn a call-up to any of the Ghana national teams.

Speaking in an interview, the enterprising striker says his decision to play for Togo was a decision taken by himself and his family.

“It was a family decision that led me to play for the Togo national team," he said in an interview with Kumasi-based Sikka FM.

“I made the correct decision because I’m likely to get enough playing time with Togo," he added.

Meanwhile, Yaw Annor completed a move to Egyptian powerhouse, Ismaily. The 23-year-old has signed a five-year contract worth around $200,000.
