Former Vice President of the Ghana Football Association, George Afriyie has explained why the Black Galaxies failed to perform at the just ended CHAN tournament in Algeria.

The home-based national team were eliminated from the tournament at quarterfinals after a shocking 2-0 defeat to Niger.

In an interview, the astute football administrator attributed the Black Galaxies failure at the tournament to inconsistency in player selection.

“We don’t follow consistency but in football, consistency plays a role. Some of the players who we used to qualify the team to Algeria were dropped, so we are not consistent”

“We don’t have a solid program where we make sure that we follow it through that is the problem, it is not about ranking”

“Ranking can be done because we’ve seen countries ranked outside the world in top 20 coming into a major competition and excel, we see it all the time. So it’s not necessarily about the ranking”
