Former Newcastle United winger Christian Atsu has disclosed that the Black Stars deserves every criticism thrown at them by Ghanaians for their failure to win a major trophy.

Ghana are one of the most successful teams at the Africa Cup of Nations, having won the trophy on four occasions.

However, the team has failed to lift the trophy since 1982 despite being at the finals on three occasions.

Speaking to Starr Sports in an interview, Christian Atsu believes Black Stars best is not enough and deserve every criticism from Ghanaians.

"We fight for the fans, we play for the fans and if you have noticed if the fans are not behind us, we perform badly you know," he said.

"But I know the fans don’t see this, we play for them and also give our everything for them but our best has not been enough for them and we deserve the criticisms from them."

"We  just promise that everyday things will be much better."
