Ghanaian prodigy Edward Sarpong has expressed his happiness after he was handed his debut Black Black Meteors call-up ahead of the 2019 U-23 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against Algeria.
Sarpong, who plays for the CF Esperança de Lagos is one of the foreign players who have been handed a call-up by coach Ibrahim Tanko for the crucial clash against Algeria in September.
The 22-year-old said, ” I am happy for this invitation by the head coach for the big game", he told SportsworldGhana.com.
"Every Ghanaian player wants to play for a national team and I am one of them so I really value the call-up and ready to do my best for the country.
"I know there are many Ghanaian players out there who are hoping to get this opportunity so I will do my possible best to ensure I impress the technical handlers to be part of their selection.
"I know when I am selected to play definitely I will excel and make sure I cement a slot in the team hopefully for the Afcon and the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games."
Ghana will play Algeria at the Accra Sports Stadium on September 6 before the return encounter in Algiers on September 10.
The winner of the two-legged tie will qualify for the African U-23 championship in Egypt from 8-22 November 2019.
