EXCLUSIVE: GFA boss Kwesi Nyantakyi and Technical Director Oti Akenten voted for Mahrez ahead of Ayew

The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has revealed how its Executive Committee members voted for the 2016 CAF African Player of the Year Awards on Thursday in Nigeria.

Interestingly, the GFA President Kwesi Nyantakyi gave the maximum number of his votes -5- to eventual winner Riyad Mahrez.

Mr Nyantakyi also placed Gabonese forward Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang in secomd place with four votes.

Next for the CAF Media Committee member was Egyptian Speedster Mohammed Salah with 3 votes.

He voted for his compatriot and Deputy Black Stars skipper Andre Ayew with two votes and gave one vote to Nigerian youngster Kelechi Iheanacho.

The Ghana Football Association as a member association of CAF also gave 5 points to Mahrez, four to Aubameyang and three to Salah.

The Technical Director of the GFA, Francis Ot-Akenteng, also gave his maximum number of votes (5) to Mahrez with Dennis Onyango, Andre Ayew, Islam Slimani and Aubameyang following in that order.
