Footballghana.com can exclusively report that Ghanaian international Lawrence Ati-Zigi is on the verge of agreeing to a contract extension with French Ligue 2 side FC Sochaux-Montbéliard.
The Black Stars second choice goalkeeper completed his move to Austrian side Red Bull Salzburg in 2017 where he inked a four-year contract with the Lions Cubs.
Though he was highly rated then, the availability and form of FC Sochaux captain Maxence Prévot meant that Ati-Zigi could only warm the bench of the side.
Having played second fiddle to the France goalkeeper in the past 2 years, the Ghanaian goalkeeper has finally had his chance at the club following the injury of Prévot.
Ati-Zigi has managed to impress for the Ligue 2 side in the ongoing 2019/2020 campaign and has convinced management to hand him a contract extension that will see him earning more money.
Now 22 years of age, the goalkeeper is expected to put pen to paper on the new deal in the next couple of days when his handlers go through every detail of the contract.
He continues to be part of the Black Stars squad and recently represented his national team at the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) despite not playing any part in the team’s campaign.
