EXCLUSIVE: Red Bull Salzburg rubbishes Gideon Mensah's reported move to Barcelona

Austrian giants Red Bull Salzburg has refuted reports that suggested that Spanish La Liga champions FC Barcelona had been in contact to try and sign Ghanaian player Gideon Mensah.

News of a potential transfer for the promising youngster broke like wildfire when some publications in Spain indicated that there were strong interested from the Catalans.

According to reports, Barcelona was on the verge of signing the Ghanaian in a bid to replace Juan Miranda for their B team.

Speaking to Salzburger Nachrichten however, Chief sporting director for the Austrian club, Christoph Freund has noted that there has been no contact with the Spanish giants for the transfer of Gideon Mensah.

“There is no contact with Barcelona”, he said.

Mensah, 21, recently returned from his six months loan spell at Sturm Graz. He has impressed in pre-season so far and could make a competitive debut for the side in any of their upcoming matches.
