The Saints are eyeing the prolific striker as a potential replacement for Che Adams, who is set to join Torino.

Thomas-Asante, 25, has made a significant impact at West Brom since his transfer from Salford in 2022, finishing as the club’s top scorer in both of his first two seasons.

Southampton's interest comes following Adams' departure to Serie A side Torino. The Scotland international played 191 games for the Saints, including 46 last season, contributing to the club's promotion back to the Premier League.

With Thomas-Asante’s contract at the Hawthorns expiring next summer, this transfer window offers West Brom a chance to cash in on him.

Although Thomas-Asante lacks Premier League experience, he has climbed the ranks from the National League, demonstrating his goal-scoring prowess in every division he has played in. He has also shown versatility by playing across the frontline.

If he joins Southampton, Thomas-Asante will face pressure to deliver goals, addressing a critical issue for the club during their 2022-23 Premier League campaign when they scored only 36 goals, contributing to their relegation.

Thomas-Asante made his debut for Ghana in the 2026 World Cup qualifiers against the Central African Republic at the Baba Yara Stadium, a match that ended in a 4-3 victory for Ghana.

He scored 11 goals last season in the English Championship.
