EXCLUSIVE: Thomas Partey only wants Arsenal move or Madrid stay

Published on: 18 May 2020

Ghanaian midfielder Thomas Partey is desperate and will only join Arsenal this summer or remain at the Wanda Metropolitano Stadium till 2021 when he'd revisit the matter, Footballghana.com understands.

This harmonizes with recent reports that Partey prioritises a Premier League switch ahead of other destinations as he desires to follow in the footsteps of Ghanaian star Michael Essien after his success in England and the PL with Chelsea.

The 26-year-old is enjoying his best season in LaLiga with Atletico Madrid and with his release clause set at just €50million (£43.5m), it is no surprise he is on the Gunners' radar.

He has made 31 appearances in all competitions for Los Rojiblancos as they lie 6th on the league table with 45 points after 27 matches played thus far.

He believes Emirates is the best place for him to continue his career but acknowledges he may have to wait 12 months.

Several clubs are also interested in signing him including Manchester United, Liverpool, PSG, Juventus, and Bayern Munich.

Atletico Madrid, meanwhile, are working on a new deal to tie down the player until 2026 (his current contract runs until 2023) and want to increase his clause to a more prohibitive €100m (£87m), according to reports in Spain.
