EXCLUSIVE: Valencia set to open negotiations with Valladolid for the transfer of Mohammed Salisu

Published on: 04 February 2020

Footballghana.com can exclusively report that Spanish La Liga side Valencia is set to open negotiations with Real Valladolid in a bid to try and sign Ghanaian defender Mohammed Salisu.

The center-back has been a revelation for his side since the 2019/2020 season started and has in the process established himself as one of the best young defenders in Europe.

In the last two transfer windows, Mohammed Salisu has been at the center of several transfer speculations which linked him with moves to Sevilla, Manchester United, Newcastle United, as well as Norwich City.

At the end of the January transfer window, he stayed put at Real Valladolid with the club stressing that he is a player they need.

Meanwhile, information picked up indicates that Salisu is being looked at by Valencia who is bent on signing a replacement for injured experienced defender Ezequiel Garay.

Under normal circumstances, it would have not been possible but due to Article 124.3 of the RFEF Regulations that grants a Spanish club a period of 30 days to incorporate a new footballer into its squad, they might get their man if they are able to reach an agreement with Real Valladolid.

With the Ghanaian having a release clause of 12 million Euros in his contract, Valencia will be required to cough out that amount or even more to convince Valladolid to let their man go.
