Valencia star Yunus Musah has revealed he was contacted by the Ghana Football Association to play for the Black Stars before opting to represent the United States of America, Footballghana.com can report.
The 18-year old was eligible to play for Ghana, Italy and England at the international level.
The former Arsenal youth star however committed his international future to the Yankees of USA in March 2021.
Speaking ahead of the USA semifinal duel against Honduras, Musah admitted that the Ghana FA contacted him to play for the Black Stars, however he opted to play for the US national since he was born in New York.
“Italy hadn't come close before, but Ghana has. They called my parents before. Italy had not communicated. I think it was when the season started people began to see me in and around the first team at that stage, "he commented.
Musah made 35 appearances scoring a couple of goals for Valencia in both La Liga and Copa Del Rey in the just ended season after making his debut.
He has capped five times for the US national team since making his debut.
