Nkoranza Warriors President, Leslie Kuku Bartels has likened the playing style of Asante Kotoko’s new signing Fabio Gama to that of Real Madrid midfielder Luka Modric.
In the run-up to the start of the 2020/2021 Ghanaian football season, the Porcupine Warriors completed the signing of the Brazilian midfielder to bolster their squad.
With the Ghana Premier League yet to witness the prowess of Fabio Gama, there are doubts over his quality.
Speaking to Ashh FM in an interview today, Leslie Kuku Bartels who has encountered the midfielder in the past has backed him to be a very good player.
“I have known Fabio Gama for one year now from his formal club Jonkonping Sodra IF because that team was in partnership with Nkoranza Warriors.
“I can't say how he can fit in the Kotoko team but he is a very good person because when I met him there he received my players very nicely and he was always in their starting lineup,” the Nkoranza Warriors president has shared.
Leslie Kuku Bartels added, “From what I saw his weakness is a bad tackler but a good passer of the ball. I have no interest in praising him for anything and one thing about me when I say a player is good then believe in me the player is good.
“Fabio Gama' style of playing looks more like Luka Modric of Real Madrid Fc and you will see the best out of him when Kotoko is playing on a good pitch.”
The former Brazil U-20 midfielder arrived in Ghana a couple of days ago and has today started training with his new teammates.
His fitness level is expected to be assessed and could play his first match on Sunday when Kotoko plays against Berekum Chelsea.
