Facts Are Facts! Borussia Dortmund Star Defends the Time He Spent at Previous Club

Borussia Dortmund's Mario Gotze has revealed he learned a lot during his spell at Bundesliga giants Bayern Munich.

Gotze joined Bayern back in 2013, but found his spell with the club frustrating, frequently being selected behindthe likes of Arjen Robben,Franck Ribery and more recently Kingsley Coman and Douglas Costa.

The 24-year-old rejoined Dortmund in the summer following a disappointing final campaign, scoring three goals in just 14 Bundesliga appearances during the 2015-16 season. The Germany international has joined a Dortmund side packed with young talent, with the likes of Ousmane Dembele and Julian Weigl ably supporting more established stars like Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.

Speaking toBild, Gotze looked back on his Bayern career, revealing the opportunity to train with world-class talent has helped develop him as a player.

"Every chapter in your life furthers you," Gotze stated.

"I have learned a lot in Munich, played with world-class players, I have matured and also learned from setbacks. Overall, you can say I was happy in Munich, and I am also happy in Dortmund now."

"I have won nearly 60 caps [for Germany], had success at Bayern and Dortmund for six years, won the league five times. Those are facts."

"Every football player develops, every team, every opponent. The old Mario Gotze will never return. What matters in football is the current situation.

"And I feel in good hands here at the national team and at Dortmund. I am starting to access my potential. What I do is give the optimum every day and in every training session."

Gotze has made six Bundesliga appearances so far this season, failing to score a goal or create an assist.
