Egypt Security have detained suspects plotting to attack Ghana coach Avram Grant in Alexandria when the Black Stars take on the Pharoahs in a 2018 World Cup qualifier.
Reports emanated on Monday that, some group of vicious fans have planned to attack Grant who is an Israeli. Egypt has thwarted a plot by those people by detaining suspects and issuing a warning.
But another group of fans has also threatened to try and bar his entry to the country when he arrives for a November 13 match in Alexandria.
Security has been tightened ahead of the match on the assumption that Grant will come with his team to the game. Fans have been demanding that he be barred from entering the country.
Egypt was the first Arab country to sign a peace treaty with Israel, in 1979, but anti-Israeli sentiments have been rife since former president Hosni Mubarak was toppled by a popular revolt in 2011.
