Felix Annan express worry over gov't decision to extend ban on football

Kumasi Asante Kotoko captain and goalkeeper, Felix Annan has expressed worry over the decision by the government to extend the ban on football activities in the country.

The government in March suspended all public gatherings including sporting activities in the country as a precautionary measure to stop the spread of the Coronavirus (Covid-19) disease.

Two months later, another announcement has confirmed that contact sports such as football will remain banned even though plans to ease restrictions in relation to public gatherings have started.

Reacting to the news, Felix Annan has expressed worry as he raises doubt over the completion of the 2019/2020 football season.

“We were all waiting for the president to lift the ban on social gatherings. But when the president suspended all contact sports until 31st July, it was worrying because when teams return after two the months, they must be given a month or more to prepare for the resumption of the league", Annan said in an interview.

He added, “When can we finish the current league in order to start the next. I don’t know what authorities are doing about it now but I can see it’s difficult to resume the league.”
