Fenerbahce coach Phillip Cocu says an ankle injury to Ghanaian international Andre Ayew was the reason why he was left out of their Champions League game with Benfica.
Ayew, who was not involved in training after Cagliari's injury, was not included in the squad for the game.
"We are ready for the match, we are all right now. Ayew did the workout but we saw some problems. Taking any risk could prolong your disability. He wanted to be a player but he would have to wait for the second game ".
Andre Ayew has joined the side from Swansea City on a season long loan.
