Fergie Time! Mourinho Pleads to Be Given Same Patience as Sir Alex Following Stuttering Start

Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho is hopeful the club and United's supporters will afford him the same time, as Sir Alex Ferguson was given at the start of his career, in order to make his mark at Old Trafford.

Speaking ahead of Thursday night's Europa League clash with Feyenoord, the former Chelsea and Real Madrid boss intimated that United were a club he was looking to stay with far beyond the three year contract he was handed in the summer.

United haven't got off to the best of starts under their new coach, but Mourinho believes it'll take him time to adjust. According toThe Sun, the Portuguese coachsaid:I am at the beginning of my contract. I am at the beginning of the process. Let's go step by step.

If you ask me would I like to be successful in these three years, would I like to stay here for more time than these three years ” then yes.

Because I am at the club that I want to be and in the league I want to be. So yes I would love it. But I also have to deserve that. So go step by step. Let us see the evolution of my results.

"And if one day the club thinks I deserve it, then I will be very happy and proud about that. I am just at the beginning. The three-year contract I was given is a fair period of time to give to me to take us where we want to be.

Three years is not just about the transfer windows. It's about my relationship with the players, my understanding of the players, the understanding the players have of my personality as a manger.

A person's routines, dynamics of how they work. That's key. It's all about that.

I think it's a fair period of time. But if you ask me if I am a waiting for my third year in the club to have good results? No, I am not waiting. I am going to immediately try to do my best to get results.
