FIFA U-17 WC: Ghana’s High Commissioner to India Mike Oquaye Jnr. optimistic of the Black Starlets chance

Ghana’s High Commissioner to India, Hon. Mike Oquaye Jnr. is very positive of the Black Starlets chances ahead of the World Cup in India.

The team landed in New Delhi on Monday and was received by the commissioner, who asked the team to remain focused and go for the ultimate.

“You are welcomed to India, I just came from Ghana this morning (Monday), I was with the President just last week and they are very excited about the team and the possibility of the team winning the cup.

“We believe the team is a very good team in terms of potential. We know you expect much for us because we want you to concentrate on this task we will try and cordon you so that your management and doctors will team for u so that u give us special results,” HE Oquaye Jnr stated.

The Black Starlets have been preparing ahead of the World Cup for months now, and arrive in India from Abu Dhabi where they played a couple of friendlies, including playing against the African Champions Mali. A game they lost 2-1.

Ghana played the U.A.E and defeated them by 4 goals to zero before thrashing Guinea 6-1.

The under-17 team is returning to the FIFA world Cup after a ten year absence, chasing a third glory after winning the tournament twice, in 1991 and 1995.

Ghana will open her campaign on Friday against Colombia.
