Black Princesses head coach, Yussif Basigi has attributed their 4:1 humiliation to poor preparations in the opening game against France at the FIFA U-20 Women's World Cup.
The country's female U-20 team were hammered by 4 goals to one by host France at the Stade Rabine in Vannes.
Emelyne Laurent's double and Helene Fercocq's strike gave Les Bleuettes a three-goal lead, before halftime. However, Black Princesses forward Sandra Owusu Ansah pulled one back before Sandy Baltimore struck in stoppage time to condemn the West Africans at Stade de la Rabine in Vannes.
Coach Yussif Basigi admits his side lost concentration in the early minutes of the game and could not recover well.
"We didn't start well, and you can see from the way we conceded early," he said in a post-match interview. "You realize that in the second half we came back strongly and we were able to redeem one goal but unfortunately getting to the end of the game we lost a little bit of concentration and we conceded another goal."
"You know we didn't play any friendly before coming so I knew we were going to face a little difficulty and this is a sign, we started very slowly and it didn't help us at all."
Meanwhile, Coach Yussif Basigi has been criticized for playing the players in unfamiliar positions on the pitch. However, the former Black Queens Coach explains most of his players were not fit enough for the opener and had to improvise.
"Those who were supposed to play in those positions, some were on injuries and normally we have utility players who can also play in that positions. Football is a contact sport, there were knocks here and there, I wouldn't say they are injuries that will rule the players out looking at the nature of knocks they had at our last sessions. The Doctors are working on them in order to put them in shape and hopefully, they will be ready for the next game."
Ghana will face the Netherlands next in the second group game Wednesday.
