Black Maidens assistant coach Baba Nuhu has praised the Batwana of South Africa for the amazing support during their final group game on Tuesday.

Ghana beat New Zealand 2-0 to keep their 100 percent record intact at the ongoing FIFA U17 Women's World Cup in Uruguay.

Captain Mukarama Abdulai scored a brace to send the Black Maidens into the quarterfinals.

The Maidens throughout the game enjoyed massive support from South Africa who had earlier lost to Brazil.

The amazing support of the Batwana according to coach Nuhu Baba played a key role in their victory over the New Zealand team.

"This game was different from that of the Uruguay and Finland games and initially when the game started we didn't have people to cheer us up but we came without expecting any support," he said

"When we realized we had our African brothers and sisters cheering us, we felt like we were home and it boosted our moral.

"Their support was very instrumental and we won the game for them as well as the people of Ghana."

Ghana will now play Mexico in the quarterfinals tie scheduled for Sunday November 25 at 4pm.

This is the fourth time Ghana will be making it to this stage of the competition in a row having lost the last two quarter finals games.
