Football World Rallies Around Fernando Torres With Social Media Well-Wishes After Head Injury

Atletico Madrid's 1-1 away draw against La Liga opponents Deportivo ended on a scary note as the club's star striker Fernando Torres was involved in a sickening head clash.


The 32-year-old Spaniard came on as a substitute in the second-half and accidentally collided with Deportivo's midfielderAlex Bergantinos in mid-air, leaving Torres apparently unconscious on the ground.

The former Liverpool and Chelsea striker was taken off the field on a stretcher and was rushed to the hospital. The Rojiblancos' manager Diego Simeone was even stunned and nervous on the sidelines. Fortunately, medical tests revealed no serious injury, and Torres himself released a brief statement to allay fears about his well-bring.
