Former African Champions to camp in Ghana

Zambia are looking at camping options in Ghana, ahead of their 2018 World Cup qualifier against Cameroon slated for November.

Coach Wedson Nyirenda said the most ideal situation would be to camp his team in Ghana. “We are looking at the possibility of camping in South Africa and also in Ghana but as soon as the logistics are done, we will have a clearer answer,” Nyirenda said.

“Both places are good but Ghana is a much better option because of proximity, the climate and maybe in terms of playing local friendlies there.

“South Africa is also good because of the easy logistics of connecting flights and they have easy direct flights to most of West Africa.”

Zambia are scheduled to play Cameroon on November 12 away in Limbe on Matchday 2 of the 2018 World Cup Group B qualifiers.

The Chipolopolo’s currently sit bottom of Group B on zero points following their 2-1 home loss at the hands of Nigeria on October 9 at Levy Mwanawasa Stadium in Ndola.

Cameroon are second in Group B with one point following their 1-1 away result against Algeria on the same date. Meanwhile, Zambia’s home-based players commence their weekly camp this Sunday in Ndola under Nyirenda as they begin their gradual build up for next month’s trip to the face the Indomitable Lions.
