Former Ghana defender John Paintsil has charged local players to rock shoulders with the foreign ones when invited into the national team.

The Black Stars will play Madagascar and Central African Republic in the qualifiers next month before traveling to Japan for the four-nation tournament.

Ghana coach Otto Addo on Tuesday released a 33-man squad for the upcoming games which included two local players of Daniel Afriyie Barnieh and Augustine Okrah.

In an interview with Akoma FM, the former right-back has entreated local players not belittle themselves whenever they get call up into the national team.

“The players (local ones) should not see themselves that there's no chance in the Black Stars because they play in the domestic league”

“I remember playing in the first division, I was still fighting for the national call up so they just have to encourage themselves”

“If you see yourself that, playing in the GPL will be hard to earn a call up, so shall it be”

“Just see yourself equally as the foreign players and you can compete”

“It's just a basic thing, they should listen to the instructions of the technical team and work accordingly”
