Former Gunner Believes Tottenham's 'Steel' Should Worry Arsenal This Season

Arsenal legend Ian Wright thinks Tottenham Hostpur's bolstered mentality under Mauricio Pochettino places them as genuine contenders again this season - and a reason to worry Arsene Wenger's Gunners.

Since Pochettino's appointment at White Hart Lane in 2014, Spurs have matched Arsenal blow for blow, with the Gunners benefiting from a late season collapse to pip their North London rivals to second place in the Premier League last season.

However, Wright, speaking as an Arsenal fan, admits he is worried that Spurs will rise once more this season and thinks they are adequately equipped for another tilt at the title.

Tottenham still worry me. They've got a steel to them. They don't give up. They're contenders," Wright is quoted as saying bySport Review.

Arsenal are currently secondin the Premier League - tied on points with leaders Manchester City and third-placed Liverpool -but missed the opportunity to go clear as they were held to a 0-0 draw at home to struggling Middlesbrough.

Spurs are only one point behind their rivals in fourth place and are unbeaten this season, with five wins and four draws from their nine games. This unbeaten streak is a strong indicator of the mentality Wright is referring to.

It's already shaping up to be an excellent Premier League season and, as usual, it's incredibly difficult to pinpoint a favourite at this point. However, it's become abundantly clear that both Arsenal and Spurs will be a factor until the end.
