Former Sunderland striker Asamoah Gyan arrives in India to begin career with NorthEast United FC

Ghanaian striker Asamoah Gyan has touched down in India to begin his career with NorthEast United FC.

Gyan, who was spotted at the airport with Ghana's High Commissioner Mike Ocquaye Jnr joined the Highlanders on a free transfer after leaving Turkish club Kayserispor at the end of last season.

NorthEast United will be 33-year-old’s 10th club in a career which started in Ghana with Liberty Professionals.

He has played in Italy, France, England, United Arab Emirates China, and Turkey.

The former Sunderland striker is Ghana's highest goalscorer with 51 goals in a record 107 appearances.

He has played in three FIFA World Cup finals 2006, 2010 and 2014 and scored six goals which make Gyan Africa's top scorer in the history of the tournament.
