Ademola Lookman and Cyriel Dessers scored for Nigeria, while Jordan Ayew netted the consolation goal for Ghana's Black Stars. Ghanaian defender Jerome Opoku was sent off in the 56th minute.

After the game, Ghana's goalkeeper trainer, Fatau Dauda, took to X to share a heartfelt message for one of Nigeria's key players, Stanley Nwabali, also known as "BoBo." The two had previously shared a locker room while playing for Enyimba International Football Club in Aba, Nigeria in 2019.

Dauda made 40 appearances in the Nigerian top flight for Enyimba.
