Avram Grant, the coach for the Chipolopolo, has what it takes to succeed, according to former Zambia national team goalkeeper Davies Phiri.

The Football Association of Zambia (FAZ) chose Grant to lead the Chipolopolo in a frantic attempt to qualify for the 2023 Ivory Coast Africa Cup of Nations.

Croat Aljosa Asanovic, who resigned in August of last year, is replaced by Grant, 67. In March, Grant will play in back-to-back Group H qualifiers for the Africa Cup of Nations against Lesotho.

The Israeli requires assistance as he gets to work, according to Phiri, a former national team goalkeepers' coach, who made this statement in an interview yesterday.

“He [Grant] is a good coach, the [two-year] contract is good but he needs our support for him to succeed,” Phiri said.

Avram Grant managed the Black Stars of Ghana from 2014 to 2017. Grant resigned as the coach of Ghana after finishing fourth in the 2017 Africa Cup of Nations, losing against Cameroon in the semi-final and Burkina Faso in the third place play-off.
