Former Nigeria midfielder Henry Nwosu says the Black Stars needed Francis Uzoho’s blunder to secure qualification to the World Cup.

Ghana held the Super Eagles to a 1-1 at the Moshood Abiola National Stadium in Abuja which propelled the Black Stars to qualify at the expense of Nigeria.

The Black Stars after playing a pulsating 0-0 draw in the first leg on home turf looked purposeful in the return encounter, however, after a scoring draw in Abuja, Ghana have secured qualification to the biggest Soccer Mundial.

Arsenal star, Thomas Partey, who captained the team in the absence of Andre Ayew opened the scoring for Ghana after just 10 minutes into the first half.

Nigeria captain William Troost-Ekong converted a penalty to draw the Super Eagles level after a VAR decision in the 22nd minute.

Reacting to the defeat, Nwosu indicated Francis Uzoho’s error cost the Super Eagles World Cup ticket.

“I am disappointed that the Super Eagles failed to capitalize on home advantage to defeat Ghana and pick the World Cup ticket.

“However, it’s so unfortunate that Uzoho’s blunder was just what the Black Stars needed to qualify ahead of Nigeria for Qatar 2022. It was his positioning that let that goal inside the back o the net.

“Well, we just have to accept the defeat because the deed has been done.”
